If there is a battery backup system present and installed, the manufacturer usually advises it can handle around 10-15 cycles while on battery power, allowing the gate to be opened safely but not designed for continual use. If no battery backup system is present, you will need to use the manual release key to release the drive mechanism and open the gate by hand.
